The Process of Publishing - think it, write it ,PRINT IT!

The publishing process can appear complex at times, especially if this is your first time thinking about writing a book. Here are some easy steps to help guide you when writing your book before having it published.

Step one

Have a serious think about who you believe is going to buy and read your book. Some may think that this part of the process is easy and that ‘my book is for everyone to read- its a pick-up book for anyone’ this is a dangerous assumption, you need to find a clear route to who may be interested in your book from the beginning and stick to that goal.

Step two

Now you write the book. This step can be incredibly challenging. You need to structure your book and most importantly create an outline first. Then fill in the outlined areas at a speed you are comfortable with. That way, when you get stuck in one section, you can write in another predetermined section. Sometimes the later chapters will inform the early chapters with obvious links- this is a great way to keep your ‘writers-block’ at bay!!

Step three

Edit, edit and edit again! at the very least I would recommend getting a professional copy editor as a minimum. An outsiders view will refresh your book, make you see it in a new ‘edited’ light - even the greatest of writers can be too close to their words at times and need a new pair of unbiased eyes to scan their creation. Trust me -the investment will be worth it.

Step four

Choose a publishing method that suits your needs.
Step five
Meet with your publishing service and discuss ALL aspects of your book i.e ; discussing your goals, interior layout ideas, and cover design concepts. This stage is extremely important and allows you to uncover any mistakes or alterations needed - remember this is your final chance to go through your book with a fine tooth-comb - line by line is essential and there is no time limit - your book must reflect your standard and nothing less - a lazy writer, writes a lazy book.
Step six
